Activities Offered

Community-based instruction (CBI) is an activity we offer at VBC. We take our kids on a 1-2 field trip per month to various places within the community such as:

  • Museums
  • Parks
  • Festivals
  • Restaurants
  • Pottery Painting
  • Movie theaters
  • Shopping and more.

At these locations, we are able to work within the natural environment on skills such as:

  • Staying with your group
  • Behavior appropriate to various social contexts
  • Making purchases
  • Use of money
  • Conversation
  • Age-appropriate activities
  • Expanding and conditioning reinforcement and more

By working on these skills within the community, we are promoting the generalization of behaviors taught in the clinic setting and prepare learners for participating in activities in the community with their families.
